Fifty years ago on August 11, 1973, DJ Kool Herc hosted a party at 1520 Sedgwick Ave. in the Bronx with his massive sound system spinning break beats which would become one of the foundations of Hip-Hop. The term Hip-Hop came into play 9 years later when Afrika Bambaataa used it to talk about all the aspects of the culture including B-Boys breaking, emcees rapping, DJs mixing, and the street art by graffiti writers.
