Description
Roy Ayers' iconic album He's Coming presents the jazz-funk-soul vibraphone master at the top of his game. Inspired by the Broadway musical Jesus Christ Superstar - with even a cover of a song from the show - this LP showcases Ayers' spiritual and social beliefs. In addition to Ayers' core Ubiquity band, the album features legendary sidemen saxophonist Sonny Fortune, bassist Ron Carter and drummer Billy Cobham. Smif-N-Wessun paid homage to the cover on their album Dah Shinin' and sampled "We Live in Brooklyn Baby" on "Home Sweet Home." Other tracks have been sampled by Mos Def, Kendrick Lamar, Pete Rock, and Ghostface Killah to name a few.
