An album that has been talked about since Illmatic dropped over 30 years ago, in 1994, has come to fruition. Entirely produced by DJ Premier, laced with his signature scratch hooks, Light-Years is Nas's ode to Hip-Hop culture with breakbeat call backs, songs paying tribute to Graffiti artists on "Writers," Preemo's early beat making days on "Pause Tapes," a third installment of "N.Y. State of Mind", tales of modern day hustling on "GiT Ready" an evolution of Nas' alter egos over the years on "Nasty Esco Nasir," Nas's 30+ year run on the ill "Madman" and only one fitting feature with AZ on "My Story Your Story." They take time to shout out every female emcee and group on "Bouquet (to the Ladies)." The album ends with Nas rapping about being an elder statesman of Hip-Hop on "3rd Childhood." A solid 15 tracks with no filler and pure Hip-Hop.
