While Nigeria’s rock movement was largely supported by major label subsidiaries, Zamrock thrived independently—an authentic soundtrack to Zambia’s newly-formed identity. It was more than imitation; it was transformation. Bands like WITCH, Paul Ngozi, Amanaz, Musi-O-Tunya, and Salty Dog didn’t just borrow from Western influences—they rewired them into something uniquely Zambian.
