Hailing from the DMV (DC, MD, VA), Wale started rapping in the early 2000s and released a series of mixtapes including the Seinfeld-inspired Mixtape About Nothing (2008) and its follow-up More About Nothing (2010). After releasing his debut studio album Attention Deficit via Interscope, Wale left and signed to Rick Ross' new imprint Maybach Music Group. After the success of two albums under MMG, Wale reached out to Jerry Seinfeld to collaborate on his fourth studio album, The Album About Nothing.
The Album About Nothing originally released on March 31, 2015, features Jerry Seinfeld as a narrator providing commentary throughout the concept record and samples from "The Show About Nothing." Wale's style of Hip-Hop has always collaborated with R&B artists. The first single, "The Body," features Jeremih, and the Jake One-produced follow-up single, "The Matrimony," features Usher. A third track, "The Need to Know" featuring SZA was never released as a single, but is currently one of his more popular songs in the new streaming era. For the majority of the album, Wale holds his own except for one feature by J. Cole on the socially conscious track "The Pessimist." The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts proving Wale has the gift of a talented emcee with introspective lyrics appealing to Hip-Hop heads while releasing commercially successful singles appealing to a wider audience.
To commemorate the 10-year anniversary, Get On Down is proud to present for the first time on vinyl, The Album About Nothing. The album is pressed on double-splatter colored vinyl and is presented in a jacket with original album artwork limited to 500 copies. *Orders may be limited per customer. *Product shots are mock-ups.
